The Commercial sector covers a very wide range of clients and facilities, typically involving multi-storey buildings. Our approach to market is also diverse; we work alongside developers, construction companies as well as end users. The increased activity in the construction market in London in particular has brought many new projects that require Access Control, CCTV, Video Intercom and Life Safety Systems.
Many commercial developments are for multi-tenant use and this needs to form a fundamental part of the system design. This can include partitioned access control systems, multi-technology readers to suit a range of card types for each tenant or lift control to allow only authorised persons to select a particular floor.
Our sales and design team are regularly meeting with consultants and architects to advise and assist in the early design of solutions. This consultancy approach allows us to better appreciate the challenges in developing buildings for the Commercial sector and ensure that security and life safety systems are an intrinsic part of the building rather than just a bolt on.
Crime cost the UK retail industry £603m in the 2013-14 financial year, 18% higher than the previous 12 months, according to new research. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) said shoplifting, cyber-crime and fraud is now at its highest since its current recording system began in 2004. Theft by organised criminal gangs had become a huge issue, the BRC said.
BRC director general Helen Dickinson said: “Criminal activity against UK retailers continues to have wide-ranging consequences for businesses, employees and the vast majority of honest shoppers. “It is clear that retailers are facing an increasingly sophisticated criminal. Despite an average investment of £2m per business in crime and loss prevention, retailers need help and support to respond to the threat.”
We have been delivering security solutions to the Retail market for over 10 years and have an excellent understanding of the specific needs required to support this sector. Our ability to provide rapid deployment solutions in response to an incident or suspected threat is just one of the ways we work with our Retail customers. Our intuitive, high definition CCTV solutions allow control room staff to track suspicious behavior throughout even the largest of shopping centre or store and then coordinate the shop floor staff to intervene when required.
Many of our large retail customers are also linking CCTV to sophisticated access control solutions ensuring they are better protected in their high staff turnover operations by limiting the potential threat from internal and external theft.
