Customer: European Land & Property

Project: 3, 4 and 5 Merchant Square – Security Systems

Completion Date: 2000 – Ongoing

Contract Value: £1.5m

Integrated CCTV, Access Control, Video Entry, IRS and Communication Network

The solution provides an Indigo Vision based IP CCTV system for buildings 3, 4 and 5 at the Paddington development as well as an upgrade to the existing Public Realm cameras. The 200 cameras are managed from a central estate management control centre at the site that provides the operational security/incident management. To ensure that each camera delivered its operational requirement a selection of Pelco fixed and PTZ domes and Bosch Metal MICI cameras were deployed.

The access control and alarm monitoring system was based upon the Software House C Cure 9000 platform with proximity card readers provided at various doors throughout the buildings. The access control was supported with video intercom to allow non-cardholders access to the buildings by communicating with the concierge or control room. The C Cure system was integrated across the security IP network with the Indigo Vision system to provide staff with the information necessary to manage incidents in an effective manner.

The infrastructure necessary to support a large multi phase IP video and access control solution was provided by the Vindex Systems team using a 10GB fibre backbone connecting the various buildings. The dedicated security LAN ensures that the sufficient bandwidth will always be available for the security systems.

This integrated solution is the platform for the next phases of the Merchant Square development that includes 1 Merchant Square, destined to be the tallest building in Westminster, 1 Merchant Square will soar
42 storeys above its vibrant Paddington neighbourhood, affording breath-taking panoramic views over London.
