Job Title: CAD Designer

Department: Design Team

Reporting to: Design Supervisor

Role Purpose:

As an CAD operator, you’ll have an understanding of IT software and mandatory experience using AutoCAD with an ability to advise others on the correct application. You must be able to work in a team as you’ll be liaising with other team members on specific projects. An awareness and knowledge of electrical engineering and or mechanical engineering would be highly desirable. As an individual you’ll be committed to continuous improvement and be able to get excellent results through the team and others around you.

Main Responsibilities:

  • With the Design Supervisor agree a plan for the work allocated and be responsible for the accuracy and content of the defined work
  • Monitor the progress of all activities with allocated tasks, with the Design Supervisor on a weekly basis, ensuring that these are carried out within agreed timescales
  • Assist in the review of company standards as required and make the necessary additions or changes to drawings
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the integrity of technical documentation and published engineering data (O&Ms)
  • From defined specifications assist in the design and development of the systems being installed
  • Keep up to date with the latest technology
  • At all times adhere to the established company processes and seek the appropriate technical authorisation.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested of them by the Head of Technical or Design Supervisor which are within the capabilities of the job holder


The design function is operated by a small team internally and externally whose functions are interdependent.

Effective and regular communication between department members and internal business departments is crucial.
